India’s 5th largest Telecom service provider Aircel entered into the Karnataka by launching GSM mobile services in Bangalore. Aircel Ltd became the ninth mobile service company to enter Karnataka.

Mobile brands already present in the state are:

GSM: Airtel, Vodafone, BSNL, Idea, and Reliance
CDMA: Tata Indicom, Virgin Mobile, and Reliance

Aircel is a joint venture between Malaysia’s Maxis Communications Berhad and the Reddy family-promoted Apollo Hospitals and Indo National Ltd. They will invest Rs 1,100 crore over the next year to set up base stations across the state.

Aircel has been present in circles like Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar, Orissa, Assam, North East, Kolkata and Kerala. Presently, Aircel has a customer base of 16 million, mostly in Tamil Nadu.

Aircel launched with unique tariff plan where call charge for the first minute is Rs 1 per minute and then the rate drops to 50 paisa per minute from the second minute onwards. Its subscribers in Bangalore make STD calls to Kerala and Tamil Nadu (Aircel to Aircel) at only Rs 1 per minute.

Aircel also has an attractive lowest inbuilt ISD tariff of call to Gulf at Rs. 5.99 per minute and call to US/Canada at Rs. 3.99 per minute.

Gurdeep Singh, Chief Operating Officer, said “Aircel will be launching a rich bouquet of VAS services with localised content including a WAP portal page in the local language that would work on any GPRS handset.”

Pocket internet service is not good in aircel network. Its displays 115 kbps but it requires 10 minutes to open a single page. And more over you cant download any thing, for 2 mb it takes 1 hour.
