Apple iPhone 3G in India

Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Essar, Both cellular companies will launch the iPhone 3G in India on August 22. Apple has tied up with Bharti Airtel and Vodafone to bring iPhone in the country.

Sanjay Kapoor, president of mobile services at Bharti Airtel, said, “iPhone has been the iconic technology revelation of this year.”

The iPhone will be embedded with 3G networking that is twice as fast as the existing mobile phones. The phone will also have an in-built GPS system that enables location-based mobile services like navigation and positioning tool. The iPhone 2.0 software includes support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and runs hundreds of third party applications available through the new App Store. [Source: http://in.biz.yahoo.com]

Millions of Airtel customers will be able to purchase 3G iPhone at Airtel Relationship Centers. Details of pricing are yet to be announced. Globally iPhone costs 8GB for $199 (around Rs 8,000) and 16GB for $299 (Rs 12,000).
