MTSMoscow based Sistema operates cellular service under the MTS (Mobile TeleSystems) brand. It is the largest mobile operator in Russia and CIS with over 91.33 million subscribers as of July 31, 2008.

Sistema of Russia a strategic tie up with Shyam Telelink Limited that will bring the globally acclaimed brand “MTS” to India. They formed a company in India named Sistema Shyam TeleServices (SSTL). The company is 74 per cent owned by Sistema of Russia and the rest by Shyam Telecom group of India. Sistema has announced $5 billion investment in India over the next 3 years.

Sistema Shyam TeleServices (SSTL) has announced the launch of MTS telecom services in India with the commencement of its services in Tamil Nadu. The company plans to expand pan-India over the coming months.

SSTL was already offering its services in Rajasthan under the brand ‘Rainbow’. This would also be rebranded to MTS soon.

As part of its launch in Tamil Nadu, SSTL gives away one million minutes of free talk time to its customers with a limit of 150 minutes usage everyday.

    MTS is currently present in Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Kolkata, West Bengal, Bihar & Jharkhand, Delhi, Karnataka and will soon be launched in Haryana, Mumbai, Maharashtra & Goa.
