Morro – Free Antivirus software from Microsoft
AdvertisementsWorld’s biggest software maker Microsoft Corp is getting ready to unveil its free anti-virus software for personal computers that will compete with products sold by Symantec Corp and McAfee Inc. The software is codenamed “Morro”, after Brazil’s Morro de Sao Paolo beach. It will provide protection from several types of malicious including viruses, spyware, rootkits and trojans.
A Microsoft spokesman said that the Microsoft is testing an early version of the product with its own employees and a beta version will soon be made public via its website.
Microsoft has said that Morro will offer basic features for fighting a wide range of viruses, which would likely make it comparable to low end consumer products from Symantec and McAfee that cost about $40 per year.
