New Vista PC buyers to get free upgrade to Windows 7

World’s largest software company Microsoft Corp has said that new consumers who buy Vista PCs before the much anticipated Windows 7 operating system launches in October will get a free upgrade to the new operating system.

People who buy a new PC with Vista Home Premium, Business or Ultimate starting from June 27 and before the October 22 release date of new OS, then they will be eligible to receive a free upgrade to Windows 7 when it becomes available on October 22nd. Vista Home Basic is not eligible for upgrade.

Microsoft has also stated to take pre-orders for Windows 7 as of the 26th of June and will offer Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade for USD $49 and Windows 7 Professional Upgrade for USD $99. These prices are roughly half the suggested retail price.

The pre-order sale will start on June 27 in the U.S., Canada and Japan and next month in the UK, France, and Germany. Microsoft expects to sell out within 2 weeks at the promotional prices.
