Ajanta group set to launch cheapest electric car in India

India’s largest clock manufacturer Ajanta Group has announced it will soon launch its new electric car called Oreva Super. The small electric car will be priced between Rs 85,000 - Rs 1 lakh and is sure to give serious competition to Tata’s Nano car. Ajanta already offers electric scooters and bikes under the Oreva brand.
The AC variant of Oreva Super will cost Rs 1 lakh, while the non-AC variant will be available for Rs 85,000 cheaper than the Tata’s Nano. The company plans to launch its first lot in January-February, 2009. Currently Reva electric Car is the highest selling electric car in the world.
Rakesh Nathwani, National Marketing Head of Oreva Group said that the car would be able to run up to 200-250 kilometers in one time charge. The car will go on battery and it will be a completely Indian made battery operated car. Its estimated running cost of Rs. 0.50 per kilometer.
Oreva Super is similar to China’s Flybo, The Ajanta Group has borrow much of the design and technology from China’s Jinan Flybo Motor.
