Maruti A-Star - New car launched by Maruti Suzuki

Car market leader Maruti Suzuki India Limited has launched its new model Maruti A Star in India. The car is powered by the new 998cc K10B petrol engine and will be available in thee variants – Lxi, Vxi, and Zxi.

A-star is the best in class fuel-efficient car with a mileage of 19.59 kilometers per litre, as tested by ARAI, Pune, country’s premier automotive research agency.

Maruti A-Star meets all the international standards in terms of safety and emission norms. It is also tagged as first Indian car to meet the ELV (End of Life Vehicle) norms, which is applicable in Europe. ELV implies that 85 per cent of the car is recyclable. In addition, it is free from hazardous materials like Lead, Cadmium, Mercury and Chromium.

Production of Maruti A-star will begin by October 2008. In Europe, A Star will be known by new Suzuki Alto and will be marketed by Suzuki alone without any branding with Maruti India.
